Oi's To Men - NZ Oi Punk

Oi's To Men

Christchurch's Punk band Oi's To Men play and perform drunk anthems about everyday shit including getting paid on dole day, telling your boss to fuck off, locked in the cells on a sunday and more songs that will crack you up and relate to.
They aren't together anymore but their loudmouth , outpoken frontman still lives on as in Hatewanx from CHCH. Their stuff can be downloaded here: Hatewanx

Picture above is Oi's To Men Playing live in KFC. Actually!

Sora Shima

Sora Shima Myspace Page

Instrumental in nature, with an intense and well-crafted wall of sound which dramatically rises and falls on a dime, Sora Shima are by no means at a loss from lack of vocals. Destroy Electronica, the 3rd opus from the Hamilton based band reins in the ferocious nature of their previous releases to craft a solid and intense soundtrack – as harmonic as it is chaotic.

In the vein of artists such as Mogwai and Sigur Ros, those looking for an audible fix will not be disappointed to find that Sora Shima’s live performance really hits the spot. Relax, take it all in, and let your eyes roll back into your head to the transcendent sound of Sora Shima. (95bFM)

Distancing (E.p) - 2007
4 track "guitar drone" EP released online via Archaic Horizon Records. Broken acoustic and electric guitars were recorded at home by Jason via handheld MP3 player and manipulated with various software to create sprawling effects. The tracks were originally just 'filler' material to put on the band's myspace page until proper band recordings were available - but after good response and an offer by Archaic Horizon, were released online in MP3 format. Download them for free from the AH site or archive.org.

Spinetinkler (E.p) - 2006
Debut Sora Shima demo EP recorded almost entirely live in single takes at Dudley Studios in Hamilton on August 26th 2007. Original recording left raw (unmixed and unmastered) but compressed (destroyed) on Jason's computer at home. Cover artwork kindly donated by Carl Lyons Studio. Released first on CD-R in extremely limited quantities (some still available) with handmade packaging and heart-stamped CD. Now available as free download from archive.org.

Hamilton "Circle Jerk Fest" 2005-2009

This is a Hamilton Music Festival that has 10 or so bands playing one (or 2 nights) that have Hamilton bands covering Hamilton bands. Fortunately someone is smart enough to record and put these songs up for download.

The bands and covers the play are from all over the wide genre of Hamilton musicians, bands, groups etc. From Psychobilly to Indie, Metal to Electro Pop & Hardcore to Hardcore Rap there is something to enjoy and sometimes have a chuckle at i.e Chugganaut.

the page lets you download 1 mp3 rather than a whole album.

This years (2009) Circle Jerk Fest includes a favourite Powerviolence/Punk/Hardcore band Wasteland, NZ best Psychobilly band Dick Dynamite and The Dopplegangers & a sweet Atmospheric rock/Stoner Rockish band Sora Shima. Plus heaps more.

This page/link also includes the Previous years right from 2005. Very Cool.

Some Daniel Johnston for you

I'd saythis guy is an eclectic taste. You will love him or not love him. Though donload this and give him a listen to find out which love you have for DJ.

Daniel Johnston is one of the most incredible songwriters you've never heard. Destined for the underground, his sound is bare bones, usually nothing more than voice with piano, guitar or chord organ. To some it may sound elementary, but when you dig deeper you find some of the most heart wrenching songs ever written. Oddly enough his popularity stems from his own hand made cassette demos that he passed out to friends and fans.

I am going to be covering a song of his in the very near future at Franklin Arts festival.
Keep an eye out for shows here: Brent West

For More Daniel Johnston see his myspace and or watch his rollercaoster ride life documentary The Devil & Daniel Johnston.

Wesley Willis - Greatest Hits Part II

Wesley Willis

Wesley’s favorite form of greeting was the headbutt. This left a permanent bruise on the center of his forehead. His friends called it his third eye.

Geek Punk, NZ Rhymes & Hardcore

KIDS LIKE US - Outta Control (2005)

I love this record! A hardcore band from Florida with genuine hardcore music with spiteful rage but a good feel to the music. I would put it in the same vein as Mental, Outbreak, The Warriors,Suicide File. They are on Eulogy records and the have other releases. One is a split with The Mongoloids (who are a fast hardcore similar to KLU) and another E.P called The 80's are Dead. That release is awesome too. The link is from another blogspot so good luck.

JILTED JOHN - True Love Stories(1978)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I came across this from a friend a few years ago. Kinda geekish Punk rock with a bubblegum pop type of feel. It kinda reminds me of a mix between The Buzzcocks, Atom & His Package, MC Chris, Math the Band & The Ramones. Quite a fun album.

HOME BREW - Summer Ale (2009)
Also another post is a Auckland, New Zealand Hip Hop group, who is little known but is WAY BIG in my books. HOME BREW. This is the most recent of his releases but he has a conceptual E.P, Titled Last Week, and has another E.P, called Home Brew Light, both of these e.p's I have been putting tracks on every day!

HOME BREW - Last Week E.P (2008)

Hard Times @Thrash Palace with me on vocals and Shaun (emfh) on guitar.

Also Punkas.com forums have been down so I haven't spent heaps of time on the net.

Also I am going to be organizing a special show (2 nights) which is influenced from Hamilton's Circle Jerk.

This link is past years CircleJerks from 2005 with recordings of each band live set.
Circle Jerk is a show where Hamilton bands cover 2-3 hamilton bands songs and one original e.g Dick Dynamite and the Dopplegangers covered Antagonist one year, the Shrugs got together with MC Stormstroopa and covered HDU and so on and so forth.
I will be organizing an Auckland version of this including bands from all over auckland. This will be mainly focused on Punk/Metal/Hardcore bands.
Look out in Early August.
More information on the Hamilton Circle Jerk here.
Peace out for now.

TNP - Headshot

When I first started up Toothless Records I had Total N00b Pwnge at the very top of my list of awesome bands. Although they hacked through a lot of systems for lolz I did end up seeing them live. What an experience. “There will be a comeback show as soon as you’re not expecting it”.

Here is the first Song that TNP released confidently called “Headshot”.

Still on top inst

(file is an Mp4)

The 267 are still on Top of the Game. All the gangsters remember their name. All their mad rhymes will put you to shame and their beats are in the Hall of Fame. This is the instrumental (which was made on the Yamaha keyboard pictured) and a Phillip’s microphone that these ‘Rewa Hoods’ probably embezzled.

Brentosaurus - Never Give Up On Your Dreams - Mp3 - Suitable for ipods

The most influential song of 2009 ever!

This is for my friends Hannah, Maria and any other Luzty Botches !
It was recorded on Skeeters bed with Dan Bolton. It's a voice for the voiceless, a home for the homeless and a crutch for the Crotchless.

This song is in memory to Skeeter Kashmir Czer(funky-willy)wonka (R.I.P).

Another Remix I just made say 2 minutes ago is a Re-remix of Follow Your Dreams by DJ D W Dub feat Tina. This Remixxxx is done by TOOTHLESS RECORDS own DJ Yerik.

It's Tina Bitch !!

Pop-Tastic ! Now that's what I call a Side Project.

Bonky! - Travelling South - M4a.

The first song I uploaded this time is a track I made when I was real bored and found out what j-pop was. I thought I'd try to create a short song using my Rapman 2000. The name of the Band now however is Bonky! It's a zany instrumental.

Da Angli-Cans - Join the Jesus Gang, It's Cool ! - M4a

Secondly, in this post, I named the next project The Marvelous Magical Misty Mountain Band at first and I was intending to make more of this so called J-pop. But never really happened. Although I did end up making a Christian Positive song to make people accept Jesus into their life. This was meant as a weak joke about some corny Christian Bands/Groups I've heard over the years, in which I still have a weird liking for. The only person to hear this was my Friend Sarah Jane. She loves it still and still thinks The Jesus Gang is cool ! :D

The Wiri Kapahaka Club - Uncle Morrie
. M4a.

I don't even remember too much about this next project. It could have been a new program I was trying out. I must have seen or heard Sir Howard Morrison (R.I.P) singing with a Kapahaka group or something weird. Anyways It is called The Wiri Kapahaka Club and the song is called Uncle Morrie. Wiri is a place in Manurewa/Manukau that used to be this wasteland of gause and rock when I gew up. Now it actually has a purpose. There are heaps of business buildings there now and a safe storage place. You may go past this place as you go towards the Auckland Airport heading North.

By the way this song doesn't mean anything as I was making up Maori words for a laugh. Kiaora. Whakarongo te Waiata.

DJ D W DUB feat Tina - Follow Your Dreams - Mp3.

This is a very recent song I have made. My friend show me this girl singing on Youtube. She was so bad I nearly collapsed from the hilarity I endured. I pretty much made a tribute to her as she wrote and sung one of her own songs accapella called Follow Your Dreams. Around the same time I made my own positive stick to your dreams song which I will upload in the near future called Brentosaurus. I just found her full name : Kristina Elizabeth Chen. She is 15-17 or so and is a bit off a special case. Heart Warming & side splitting stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/user/tinaecmusic
visit her Youtube channel it is seriously a crack up and has a weird little scandal behind it.
Tina's Myspace Page. A must see just by her Logo itself. (later I will put up her cover of Brittany Spears' song Gimmie More.
Tina's Lastfm Page

The Huge Dude Experience - I Like the Way You Move It - m4a.

The last song I will post for now is a funny one for me. I was hanging out with EMFH vocalist aaron for a bit and we had the digi 002 with us. We also had a small drum machine. I thought i'd play around with the drum machine and found some pre-loaded songs. I decided to make a song after I heard the perfect song. I had just wactched Napeoleon Dynamite too so I was feeling in a giddy mood. LOLZ I thought to myself this is gonna be good. I also think I was inspired by Sleepy Brown and Outkast of the Dungeon Family. I freestyled the whole thing so that is why it all makes complete sense.
This was made in 2004 or early 2005 in Rewa and I found this on a computer in 2008. I was stoked :D. During these years I heard the actual song that the music is from. I think it could be The Little River band but I'm not too sure. If you do know please comment.

I Hope you enjoyed this one. My next one should have some Death Metal Projects and maybe a project in the infamous genre of Metrogrind that my good buddy Sean aka Bloodnut invented.

Peace out.
