It also has some comics, word finds and other info etc. Get it at upcoming shows in Auckland if you can for $1.50 or keep an eye on Sorry Zine blogspot page for online versions. Issue #1 has 4 Auckland bands Kia Kaha Kids (RIP), Black Tuesday, Rackets and Parents.

Miles Away

The band that doesn't really need an introduction. If you're not up to speed, check the myspace at the end of this post. Miles Away just released their latest outing 'Endless Roads'. Having getting incredibly better with each release and finding a sound that is more 'them'. Endless Roads is pretty much the defining release for Australian Hardcore this year, and one of my personal favourites from any band. It's heavy, it's melodic, it's fast and slow. Just go buy it. To get you siked on this band, I have a few of their earlier releases up.

Throwdown Thursdays

I thought I would have a bit of a theme every thursday (and in tthe future 'nearly every thursday' I bet). Any how I will put up bands that have sparked my love for hardcore or metal or a crossover thing.
This is the 1st one:
This is a band from the 90's that holds a lot of respect through out the hardcore scene (according to vetrans from the band Brothers Keeper)
Strongarm were a Christian hardcore band that were'nt seen as too preachy but held their strong beleifs and it'd either bother you or not. Anyways they hold this 90's metalcore sound that is prominent in a lot of these 90's bands releases such as Trial, Earth Crisis, Overcome and Shai Hulud.
Also personally when EMFH started up Dave Jordan from One Must Fall said we had a similar sound to them. Thats was a great compliment for me at the time.
STRONGARM - TRIALS

Robotic Empire - 2010 sampler

This is a free sampler put out by Robotic Empire.
These cats are great and have put out some awesome bands such as Hot Cross, crestfallen, Circle takes the square and New Zealands own Dial, Smashin Off and recently Neon Bastard. Along with that RE has done splits with Pig Destroyer, The Ultimate Warriors, and
Magrudergrind.

On this sampler is 2 NZ bands that I've mentioned. Download this sampler and check out the bands if you dig any, but that's a given.

Track Listing:
1.) BAD SECRETS - Go and Leave

17.) TIDELAND - Crash
18.) VANESSA VAN BASTEN - Domio '95

Downpresser - Perverted Justice

Hailing from Santa Barbra, California anyone would be forgiven thinking that Downpresser came from New York. Pissed off and heavy are the only ways to describe this band, just look at this influence list Merauder, Cro-Mags, Madball, Leeway, Buried Alive, Biohazard, Stigmata. This band lives up to it's influences, but don't pass them off as another clone. Far from it. Anyway just get this ep.

Perverted Justice

Track List:
1. Disillusioned
2. Nothing in Common
3. Cold as Ice
4. Forbidden Fruit

Surely these links work for EMFH's old stuff you may never have heard before. I doubt you can get any of these recordings/CD's from anywhere (unless you find them on trademe.co.nz or punkas.com). So enjoy them if you can. Every now and then we might even play some.
You should pick up our new CD though - Te Pae Mahutonga (The Southern Cross)

We here at the HFHshow use gig information in a few ways:
1- We read it out on air each week, usually around 11.30pm each Monday night. And, on any given show, if an event is happening before the next monday night show, we usually refer to it during other voice breaks
2- Post up on www.mukuna.co.nz (which gives us the refreshable myspace gig listings for you all to read).

5. Cold Veins 01:59

Crimes are a raw punk/hardcore band from Palmerston North. I have seen them live and listened to this recording multiple times. Still love it. Very dark, heavy and sludgy style of hardcore in the same vein as Trash Talk, Cursed & fucked up (my opinion).
You can download each song (as the main link for some reason does not work).
Anyways here is their myspace .
They will also be on tour in september throughout the Nrth Island with Ricky Bobby (also from Palmy Nth)

Tackleberry

A few years ago my band Every Man For Himself were on a German Hardcore mixtape called "No Way Out" that was a compilation of hardcore/metal/punk bands from all over the world, but mostly Europe. On that mixtape we put old versions of 'Shifkofske in Maroon' and 'Do Unto Others & Gaps it". Besides that there was this band - Tackleberry. I really liked the name cuz it comes from Police Academy.
Anyway they had 2 songs on the compilation that I really liked and found their album when it came out in 2008. I have been listening to it recently and I still like it.
Its like melodic hardcore Re. Verse, Comeback Kid with a harder kick.

Hoofprints for Hope

The following is the 1st of about 9 posts on this blog about Sarah (my girlfriend) and I and out adventure we arre doing in 2011/12. We are riding on horse back from Cape Reinga to the Bluff and will be raising money for tearfund. Nut bars!

Funny thing is I have only just started riding a horse as of THIS WEEK!

Hoofprints for Hope

So this is the blog about 'Hoofprints for Hope'. The name only came to me last week and we have only just begun the massive task of organizing everything so that the adventure can commence in December 2011. It may seem like a long time to organize things but there is so much that will go into this trek It's also worth noting that Brent and I are still students and right up until the start date in November, I will be studying full time. I called TearFund today and am excited about the concept of partnering with them and talking things through :) After all, this is the main reason hoofprints is even happening. We going to use the gifts and passions that God has given us to do something for those in need by raising money for Tearfund. Tearfund is an incredible organization who are dedicated to getting help and funds to those who need it most around the world.

latest blog has me riding on a horse.

we originally started with chris on drums and a kid called emmanuel on vocals who was 13 at the time, we had been around for a month or 2 when we found out he was to be sent to a boys home, so we recorded our first super shitty demo with 6 songs on it, 3 of which had his vocals on it.
when emmanuel was taken away, chris moved on to vocals and mikey dw played drums for us for a while until other commitments led him elsewhere.
we finally have got razzlefinn on drums and are really happy as a band, and now we are 5 best mates creating music we love and having good times.

we are pissed off and have seen a lot of harsh things growing up where we do and this is how we release those things we have seen or felt.
