Sora Shima

Sora Shima Myspace Page

Instrumental in nature, with an intense and well-crafted wall of sound which dramatically rises and falls on a dime, Sora Shima are by no means at a loss from lack of vocals. Destroy Electronica, the 3rd opus from the Hamilton based band reins in the ferocious nature of their previous releases to craft a solid and intense soundtrack – as harmonic as it is chaotic.

In the vein of artists such as Mogwai and Sigur Ros, those looking for an audible fix will not be disappointed to find that Sora Shima’s live performance really hits the spot. Relax, take it all in, and let your eyes roll back into your head to the transcendent sound of Sora Shima. (95bFM)

Distancing (E.p) - 2007
4 track "guitar drone" EP released online via Archaic Horizon Records. Broken acoustic and electric guitars were recorded at home by Jason via handheld MP3 player and manipulated with various software to create sprawling effects. The tracks were originally just 'filler' material to put on the band's myspace page until proper band recordings were available - but after good response and an offer by Archaic Horizon, were released online in MP3 format. Download them for free from the AH site or archive.org.

Spinetinkler (E.p) - 2006
Debut Sora Shima demo EP recorded almost entirely live in single takes at Dudley Studios in Hamilton on August 26th 2007. Original recording left raw (unmixed and unmastered) but compressed (destroyed) on Jason's computer at home. Cover artwork kindly donated by Carl Lyons Studio. Released first on CD-R in extremely limited quantities (some still available) with handmade packaging and heart-stamped CD. Now available as free download from archive.org.
